Organise a team of 8 guns to come Pheasant and Partridge shooting in Northumberland. Longwitton shoot is under the same management as Otterburn Tower Hotel. This commercial shoot covers 2000 acres of woods, grassland and arable fields. Dennis Stevenson is head keeper and has a lifetime of experience presenting the finest birds from this rolling Northumbrian shooting estate. Days of between 125 birds and 250 birds are available for this coming season.
Otterburn Tower, lying deep in the
Northumbrian countryside, is an ideal location for all forms of
shooting. There is the space, the atmosphere, the skills and the game and
thus the combination to provide a memorable experience.
We have five different opportunities. To gain some initial skills or to get ones ‘eye back in’ we suggest a half day of clay pigeon shooting. The site we use is constructed to CPSA standards and we can arrange fully qualified tuition or for the experienced, 2/3 hours of shooting. For the individualist there is rough shooting on a small estate about twenty minutes from the hotel.
If you are keen on following up the clays with the real thing, then you have a choice. For partridge and pheasant we send you to a neighbouring estate which is known for producing enviable bags.
If grouse and duck are your target, then that too can be provided at yet another nearby estate.
Finally there is the opportunity for deer stalking. You will be accompanied by our local gamekeeper, so you will be in expert hands for a challenging dawn and dusk in the woods.
We prepare you carefully for the big day, on the Friday
evening you will meet the members of your shooting team and
share a dram or two in front of a roaring log fire while you
order dinner. This will be a meal to remember and will leave
you in an optimistic mood for the morrow.
For these shoots, a Northumbrian breakfast will put you in good shape for an on-site start about 9 o’clock. There is always an introductory talk about safety.
You will be driven in 4x4s to the location for probably, four drives before lunch. In the afternoon you can expect two more drives, dependent upon whether the bag has already been exceeded. Then a light snack to fuel the journey back to the comforts and celebratory indulgences of Otterburn Tower, including another of our fabulous dinners and a fine wine cellar at your disposal.
For clay shooters we arrange a half day on Saturday morning. If you wish to repeat this on Sunday this can be arranged at a small cost. A ‘fireside’ menu lunch at the hotel is included.
Stalkers start early so we provide a hot beverage on departure and a Northumbrian breakfast on your return. Dusk stalking ends in time for a return to a late but well deserved dinner.
There is much to see and do in the area such as golf, fishing, sightseeing, shopping and walking, so any spare time for you and/or your partner can readily be filled with worthwhile appetite developing activity.
The rates are per person, sharing a twin/double room for dinner bed and breakfast and lunch and other refreshments on the shooting day. If your partner does not wish to shoot, we provide a ‘fireside’ menu lunch in the hotel with a half bottle of house wine and later an afternoon tea.
