around Otterburn, we are near to the Pennine Way and Kielder Forest.
Fishing
Fishing can be arranged on the nearby River Rede or stillwater fishing at
Sweethope Lough and Kielder Water.
Cycling
Sustrans National Route 68 passes through West Woodburn
village with many other routes nearby.
Artists
For a more gentle activity, art classes are available all year round.
For six weeks in June/July the Art Tour takes place where you can visit artists in their studios.
Clay Target Shooting
Learn the basics of clay target
shooting under the eye of an experienced instructor. Learn how to
handle a shotgun safely before going on to a mini competition.

Castles and Houses - There are over 500 castles and houses in
Northumberland and the Scottish Borders. Bamburgh Castle to name
but one, stands on a rocky outcrop on the very edge of the North
Sea commanding stunning views of the Farne Islands and Holy Island.
Kielder Water - Sailing, water sports, a cruise around the reservoir, fishing
and a swimming pool. All set in the vast Kielder Forest where lakeside and
forest trails offer the visitor many pleasant suprises.
Hadrians Wall Country - The edge of the Roman Empire, Northumbria was once the furthest border of the Roman Empire. After almost 2000 years the Roman occupation is still clearly visible.
Newcastle/Gateshead - Why not make a day of it, over the Tyne to Europe's largest indoor shopping centre the Metro Centre a state of the art shopping centre with a childrens playland at Metroland. Everything you will need all housed under one roof with loads of free parking. Then perhaps an evening out in Newcastle with Chinatown and theatreland.
